Having completed my NCFE Level 2 & Level 3 in Counselling skills and theory, I decided to move forward with my chosen path & undertake a BA (Hons) Humanistic Counselling Practice. Having previously been a licensed project manager for the government, I understand the importance of thorough training which is why I chose a course that offered theoretical enquiry, a focus on experiential self-development and an opportunity for working in placement as a whole package for my preparation into the field of psychotherapy.
Being in the academic arena has allowed me to thrive, being amongst some of the best minds in psychotherapy and research. In university, I experienced the therapeutic process in groups and one-to-one several times a week! And it's through that robust academic setting that I've truly found my voice & passion.
As part of my commitment to myself, I attend a minimum 30hrs of continuing professional development (CPD) training per year. This is in the form of workshops or seminars and is my opportunity to evolve new ways of working or to increase theoretical understanding of Self & others. I’m an avid reader which I believe challenges me to consider the therapeutic relationships I co-create with clients and how my Self can affect that.
I’m registered and accredited through the National Counselling Society, and as such adhere to their code of ethics and professional practice. My details are also registered on the Counselling Directory and I’m part of Brighton and Hove Therapy Hub.
With all therapeutic work, I have a supervisor who oversees that I maintain my professional standards. And I also have a personal therapist to support me in my own life aspirations. So I know what it’s like to sit in the hot seat!
